Loot Crate June 2016 Theme: Dystopia

Images taken from the Loot Crate Email.

This month’s theme is “Dystopia”. They have a lot of franchises in this image. The Matrix, Fallout, Robocop, Terminator 2, and Bioshock. My only hope is that they put quality items like last month. Loot Crate has been doing well lately and I next’s month’s box is just as good if not better than this month.

I wonder what they’re going to include this month. I would want a Fallout shirt. I’m not done with Far Harbor yet and have been playing other games in between. I wonder if they will include a figure this month. I like all these franchises so I hope Loot Crate delivers.

If you use the code “FREEFIG” when signing up for a 3, 6, or 12-month Loot Crate and receive a free mystery figure! This is the first time they’re offering it so take advantage.

What’s in the Box?

As a recovering World of Warcraft player, I love this shirt. The Orc and Human design is subtle and not too “flashy”. Definitely going to wear this to the movie.

This thing is amazing! I wasn’t too sure what kind of kitchen item we would be getting in this month but I’m happy it’s this. I now have the power to…resist oven temperatures!

Who didn’t like watching DBZ as a kid? This Shenron and Dragon Ball plushie is awesome. It also has a clasp if you want to hook it on a bag.

The last two Q-Figs we got were great. The Adam West Batman and Deadpool figures are awesome, and now I get to add a sweet Hulk figure to add to the shelf. This figure is also a Loot Crate exclusive, which is awesome.

This month’s pin is a robot from Battleborn. Redeem your code on the LOOT CRATE website to receive some in game items.

The box turns into a display for your new Q-Fig!

Final Thoughts

I think this month’s items were worth it. A lot of quality items without any filler. I don’t have a favorite because I loved everything in this one! One of my favorite boxes to date.

April 2016 Loot Crate Unboxing: Quest

What’s in the Box?

Labyrinth was one of my earliest fantasy movies that I watched growing up. My favorite character was Sir Didymus the fox knight. As much as I loved the movie, I don’t really like this shirt. My mom saw me opening the box and she loved it. She’s a fan of the movie and she loves Bowie. This month is also when Guam holds the annual Relay For Life event. It’s an event and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The colors for Relay For Life is purple and she’ll will wear this to the event.
The Harry Potter item is a pair of socks. On the socks are Voldemort’s horcruxes. I decided to give these to my little sister. She would wear this more than I would.
Skol! If you watched Vikings, you will hear that word every time they pick up a drinking horn. Now I have my very own.

Next up is a Nathan Drake poster from the Uncharted series. I haven’t played any of the Uncharted games and it’s a shame. Shame on me! Not sure if this will push me to buy the game but if someone wants to let me borrow it, I will not decline. This game releases on May 10th.

One of my favorite items in this box is a D20 ice mold. I’ve been seeing the Death Star mold online and I’ve been wanting something similar. Thankfully, the universe has obliged. Combined with the Avengers ice mold my drinks will be a lot more nerdier in the future.

This pin is a shield with a d20 in the middle. It’s my favorite pin so far this month. They also made alternate pins that were all gold. A friend of mine received a gold pin but I do not have a picture. You can also pick up a Gelatinous Cube companion if you play the Dungeon and Dragons MMO Neverwinter. I might look into this game now since it’s free to play.

Final Thoughts

This month’s box was great, even though I received two items I wouldn’t normally use. Since I could give them to family members, it was definitely worth it. The d20 ice mold and the Vikings drinking horn are my favorite items.

Loot Crate May 2016 Theme: POWER!

* Images taken from Loot Crate email.

May’s theme is POWER! The email states we will be getting items from Marvel, Warcraft and Dragon Ball Z. The crate will include a shirt, kitchen item and a figure but no mention of what franchise they will be from. I’m thinking the Marvel item will be from Civil War, and the Warcraft item will be from the movie.

I’m so HYPED! Watching the gif above brings me back to the days I was addicted to World of Warcraft and I loved watching DBZ growing up. I have high hopes for this box and hopefully I’m not disappointed. They would have to be trying to piss off people if they messed this up.

What’s in the Box?

I’m not a huge Star Trek fan but I think this shirt is from an episode. I like this shirt because the material is soft and it feels and fits great. The only downside is the color. It’s a light tan color which is unfortunate since lighter colors tend to stain easier.
Next up is an Alien vs Predator vinyl figure from Titans. The figure is slightly pose able with the arms and head able to move. I got a Xenomorph but I was hoping for the Predator. I have watched all the Predator films and one from the Aliens series.
The other wearable in this box is a reversible Daredevil/Punisher beanie. It’s a cool beanie but I’ll probably wear it only when I travel. Guam’s weather is not cold enough to warrant a beanie.
The Batman vs Superman item is a mighty wallet. I have a few mighty wallets from Loot Crate and I haven’t used any of them. Wish it was a different item.
This Loot Crate exclusive is a Harley Quinn comic. I’ll probably read it but I’m not a huge fan of DC ip’s.

Loot Crate also created another game app for this month. I haven’t played it yet but I’m not sure if I will download it. I’ll probably download it to try it out at my next game night. The pin for this month is a cool AVP inspired pin. You also get a free stream of Aliens or Predator on Vudu.com, or a free download of AVP: Three World War #1 from ComiXology.

The box has art inspired by Aliens and Predator.

Final Thoughts

I liked the majority of items in this months box. The beanie and the AVP figure were my favorites. The t-shirt is okay but I’m not a huge Star Trek fan. The wallet and comic are a miss for me.

Loot Crate April 2016 Theme: Quest

Images taken from Loot Crate announcement email.

Interesting franchises for this month. I’m familiar with everything except for the Uncharted series. I know Uncharted 4 gets released in May, but maybe Loot Crate is trying to hype the release. Going off the email, the shirt is probably from Labyrinth since David Bowie refers to voodoo in the song “Magic Dance”. The socks will probably be from Harry Potter and the “toast” item will probably a cup of some sort from Vikings. Not sure what the Uncharted item will be but I can’t wait to find out.

Loot Crate March 2016 Theme: Versus

Taken from the Loot Crate email.

This theme like last month is coinciding with a movie release. It’s not a bad thing especially if we get some sweet loot! I’m more of a Marvel fan but I’ve liked the recent Superman movies. I think Batman vs Superman is going to live up to the hype. I hope Bruce Wayne has a Boston accent (kidding). The new season of Daredevil on Netflix is also being highlighted in this theme. With a reveal of John Bernthal as Frank Castle, the Punisher, we should see a Daredevil vs Punisher story line. Star Trek and Alien vs Predator items will also be included in this crate.

February 2016 Loot Crate Unboxing: Dead

What is Loot Crate?

Taken from the Loot Crate site, “Each month, Loot Crate™ ships a themed mystery box of the best geek, gaming, and pop culture gear to a subscriber base of over 100,000 Looters. We emphasize phenomenal support and content, and include gear from some of the most respected entertainment and consumer product companies in the world.” Loot Crate sells for $13.95 a month plus $6.00 shipping and handling. You can save on the costs by subscribing for longer periods as well. If you like this theme check out the link at the bottom to subscribe.
This month’s theme was DEAD, and Loot Crate included items from Deadpool and The Walking Dead.

Whats in the Box?

The shirt this month is from Deadpool. It looks great and would go well with my Deadpool socks from a previous month.

This Q Pop miniature is sweet! I will definitely be making a space for it on my desk. I’ll probably remove the Pop figures from my desk and replace it with this.
This soap on a rope is the first Walking Dead item. It’s the ear necklace that Daryl wears in season 2. It’s a litte creepy to be honest. I’m not going to open it yet, I hope it smells good.

The last featured item is the McFarlane toys figure. This item was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a normal sized figure but instead we got a miniature from the building sets. The building sets allow you to create your own scenes from the tv show. I will look into this some more.

This month’s pin is a zombie Loot Crate box. The free item this month is a rare Carl from the game “The Walking Dead: Road to Survival” by Scopely. I haven’t played this game yet, but I might give it a try. Not sure if I can pack more stuff into my phone though. Check out LOOT CRATE PINS for more details.

Final Thoughts

The Deadpool items were great but the Walking Dead items fell short. The Q Fig and shirt are my favorite items this month. I’m going to remove my Pop! vinyls to make room for this Q fig.If you want to sign up use this LINK, also use the promo code BOX5 to save $5 off your first subscription. January 2016 Loot Crate Unboxing: Invasion!

This month’s theme was Invasion! What kind of items did we get this month? Check out below to see our Loot.

What’s in the Box?

Every month Loot Crate will include a shirt and they’re starting out the new year is a shirt from the X-Files. The shirt is an exclusive and was the winner of a contest hosted by Loot Crate and Threadless. The winning artist is known as “nicebleed”. I used to watch it growing up and the theme song still gives me chills. As much as I like the show. I don’t really like the shirt. It’s an interesting design but it’s not something I would have bought for myself. I’ll probably wear it, but not often.

Another X-Files item is this exclusive LED flashlight. We have been experiencing some power outages so this will come in handy. I hope it’s a quality flashlight that lasts for awhile. I’m glad they came with batteries.

If you seen an Alien movie, these things probably gave you nightmares. As a kid, the facehuggers were scarier than the adult Xenomorphs. Now you can have your own soft, cuddly nightmare with this Facehugger plush. It also comes with a  matching rubber band if you want to attach it to your head. “Game over, man! Game over!”

Next up, we get a Space Invaders figure. These come in different colors but I got the orange one. Interesting figure that’s also an exclusive.

This prop replica is from one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies of the 90’s. I used to watch this movie all the time since HBO would replay it frequently. I can still hear Milla Jovovich saying “Leeloo Dallas multi pass”. I’ve noticed that Loot Crate is also including more prop replicas like the Agents of Shield badge, Hydra Pin and Galaxy Quest patch from previous crates. The item can also be turned into a conventional ID holder as well. You can insert your ID into the sleeve provided and it inserts in the holder.

Instead of a poster the guys at Loot Crate included art prints from “War of the Worlds” and “The Day the Earth Stood Still”. Cool prints, would go well in an entertainment room. The only downside is the size. It’s about 9×6.

This month, Loot Crate moved away from the theme button to metal pins. I prefer these metal pins since they look better than the buttons. The pins also comes with a digital comic download of “Letter 44” from ComiXology. Go to LOOT CRATE PINS for more details.

I didn’t take pictures of the box but it turns into an 80’s arcade cabinet. You can see some of it under the pictures above.

Final Thoughts

I think Loot Crate did a great job with this month’s theme. All items went well with the theme but some were better than others. The shirt was a miss for me but I liked everything else. The Facehugger plush was my favorite item this month. If you want to check out more stuff for February’s theme go to HERE. Loot Crate is having a contest, a typing zombie game, and more.
